Position Summary:
Special Education Resource Teachers are responsible for providing support for the instructional program to students with special needs, in a supportive K-8 learning environment. They develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to the students ability level. They use their knowledge, competency, and positive nature to provide students with a strong foundation for future educational and social opportunities.

Content Focus:
The academic professional that is selected for this role should have strong content knowledge of seventh through eighth grade ELA curriculum, as well as social skills application and behavioral support.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Special Education certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:
● Knowledge and implementation of the latest intervention strategies to improve students conduct 
● Knowledge and implementation of the latest intervention strategies to support students that exhibit autistic behaviors
● Knowledge and implementation of the latest intervention strategies to successfully support students exhibiting behavioral traits that result from ADHD, ADD, and Autisic diagnosis

Qualifications:
● Demonstrated competency in all subject areas assigned 
● Valid Pennsylvania state clearances and credentials
