Contract Type: Full-Time, 40 hours/week (on-site during the school year)

✨ About the Opportunity
Augustine Angels is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Education Coordinator to join our team in support of the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) at Pine Ridge School.
This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality education, compliance with IDEA, and individualized support for students with special needs in a K–12 setting serving approximately 600 students.

You will serve as the lead on all special education program operations — from IEP coordination and staff training to compliance oversight — working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to foster student success.

đź’Ľ Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the school’s special education program and caseload (approx. 110–120 students).
  • Coordinate Child Find, IEP meetings, and evaluations to ensure all timelines and federal requirements are met.
  • Provide guidance and training to special education teachers and related service staff.
  • Review all IEPs for accuracy and compliance with IDEA and BIE standards.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, speech, OT/PT, and counseling teams for comprehensive student support.
  • Maintain data, documentation, and required reports for the Bureau of Indian Education.
  • Participate in school leadership meetings, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

🎓 Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Special Education or School Psychology (required)
  • Valid state certification/licensure in Special Education or School Psychology (required)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience coordinating or managing special education programs
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and compliance reporting
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Experience in tribal, federal, or rural school settings is highly preferred
  • Must pass a federal background check before starting work
